A nymphaeum or hypogeum dated to the mid-fourth century discovered beneath the Via Livenza in Rome seems to have been the commission of a wealthy private individual. Its scenes are a mix of pagan and potentially Christian, with a fragment of mosaic appearing to show St Peter striking water from a rock.
