Kiev, St Michael of the Golden Domes

Era 11AD - 12AD
Location Kyiv, Ukraine, 02000

The church of St Michael of the Golden Domes in Kiev was founded by Svyatopolk, Prince of Kiev, between 1093 and 1113. We know of the presence of a mosaic of the Mother of God there, standing with raised arms and open palms on the east wall (this sounds like an Orant Mary in the apse) and the church is also known to have had mosaics of the Apostolic Communion, Church Fathers and saints including Thomas, Stephen and Demetrios.
